Hi,
I'm building a gaming PC and am trying to figure out if I should go for the Skylake 6500 or 6600k.
If I go with the 6500, I can save $30 by using a microcenter bundle with a motherboard. The 6600k is relatively cheap right (~$190) now on jet.com, though I do know it'll mean I have to go with a more expensive Z170 motherboard and a cooler.
From what I understand, the i5-6500 will be fine for pretty much any games now and the near future. However, can the 6600k be expected to last significantly longer before bottlenecking performance?
I'm not really planning on overclocking right away, but will do so down the line if it means I can hold off on a CPU upgrade for an appreciable amount of time.
So, which one do you think provides better value? How much extra future security does the 6600k provide over the 6500? Is it worth the price difference with the different deals considered?
Thanks for the help
