Computer boots up for five seconds, shuts down then reboots... shuts down after five seconds then reboots... you get the picture. Goes on forever. Fan for the CPU does turn on and the DVD drive does function during that time.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

Moved the RAM into different slots. Tried booting with one stick and not the other. Done all kinds of combos with the RAM. Unseated the power cords then plugged back in. Popped out the motherboard battery then put back in after a minute. Tried reassembling outside the case. Same result.

I think it may be a busted part of some kind. If so, what is the most likely culprit? I don't want to do the scorched earth approach and send several things back, but at the same time I don't want to have to keep going back and forth to the Micro Center or wait for Amazon

Provide any additional details you wish below.

Please help. Oh and I forgot, but the parts list includes a Samsung internal DVD drive
