[Troubleshooting] New CPU needs motherboard update to be compatible

Post Body

My motherbord: Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3

Current CPU : Core i3 2120

New CPU: Core i5 3750K

I've figued out though trial and error, that whatever issue I have in in regards to the CPU. The computer just turns off after a few seconds of booting it, then on again, then off, and repeats. Though searching around I believe the issue to be the fact that the motherboard by default only support 2nd generation processors (sandy bridge), and the i5 3750K is 3rd generation (Ivy bridge).

I'm understanding that I need to download something to update it, or at least that's what I keep getting back, but I don't know EXACTLY what. Is it simply the intel VGA driver for my operating system? I can only download the sandy brige one, not the one labeled ivy bridge, though it says with the sandy bridge download that you get access to 3rd generation i5 processors.

I'd like to have a good idea of what will actually help with this though, between the new heatsink and the CPU I've spent all day on this. :x
