I'm looking at upgrading my build that I've had for a few years now, it was semi-budget at the time and it's really starting to show it's age. I primarily use it for gaming, with MMOs being my main types of games (FFXIV, GuildWars2, Tera, etc.), however I also do video editing, audio recordings and it's important my PC be decent at those.
I live in Canada, so all prices are based there.
I plan on getting a 250gb SSD for my OS, games I play frequently (MMOs), and my video/audio rendering software.
I'm also looking at upgrading from my i3 2120, but I realized my motherboard is a 1155 socket, and most CPUs I am finding are 1150, is that a huge issue to have the 1155 socket? Are there good options for CPUs that fit in? I'm looking to play games, but my main concern with the CPU is being able to render video at 1080p.
My Radeon HD6850 1GB is also really slowing me down. I don't play a lot of triple a games, but those I do I am running on medium/low settings hovering at 30fps, and am getting pretty bad frame rates in the MMOs I play. I've heard a lot of praise about the GTX970, but it's a bit more than I am looking to pay. How much is the preformance difference between it and a 960?
I'm looking at spending $500-$650 between the card and the cpu, hoping to play slightly older AAA games at max settings, newer ones at high 60fps, and be able to render videos as best as possible. Is that budget realistic for what I am expecting?
