So a great buddy of mine who past away was amazing with computers and built me this custom computer 6 years ago.

I was just typing an essay on it that is due on Friday when i smelled something funny. I assumed it was coming from outside. After about 30 seconds the smell got worse, smelled like burned plastic at least to me. Then my computer screen went white and then the computer shut itself off.

I'm completely computer illiterate and it has literally everything on it for school and personal life.

I guess my question is if you had all your school stuff on a computer that just died and you know nothing about computers and you have two days to fix it what would you do?

I live in Westchester county New York.
