I'm currently looking for parts for my first build. I've mostly been using http://www.logicalincrements.com because I've never really done anything with computers before. I have a few questions. I will be using this computer for gaming, so I'm looking for parts that would give me good performance in that aspect.
How much of a quality difference is there between an Intel Core i3-4150 Processor and an Intel i5-4440? Is it worth the $70 difference?
Will a stock fan work well? I don't plan on overclocking because, frankly, I'm not confident enough in my knowledge of computers to do that.
Would this work well for gaming?
Is this considered to be a good graphics card? What's the difference between the ACX and the SC and so forth? Would it be better to go with MSi instead of that?
I've heard that the power supply should be able to output 1.5x what the graphics card has to use, is that a good rule of thumb in general?
Is the motherboard as important as the CPU and GPU? It seems to me like it really only has to have all of the required ports. Could someone recommend one for me? I'm still pretty fuzzy on what this does except for connect all of the parts, so it would be better if it's reasonably priced.
What size case should I be looking for to fit all of this in? I've never done anything like this with computers before, so I have no idea how big each of the parts are.
Additional notes:
I picked out this hard drive.
I'd prefer to keep the price range around $650, but I'm willing to go a little over if it means major improvements to performance.
The reason I decided to do this was because I've been having to use low quality settings for all of my games. The thing that finally pushed me over the edge was buying Thief and not being able to run it at all. Would that CPU and GPU be able to run intensive games like that?
If there are better alternatives to any of the parts I've posted above for about the same price, I'd really appreciate if someone could let me know!
Anything is helpful, thanks in advance!
