Troubleshooting hard drive/disk errors.
Post Body

At the beginning of this year I decided it was finally time to upgrade to a motherboard and hard drive that supported SataIII. I picked up a AS Rock Motherboard Z77 EXTREME4 along with a Seagate ST2000DM001 hard disk and cloned my current SataII hard drive over. The old drive is used to keep backup copies of important files, but not much else.

A few months later I start seeing issues during the boot process. Often times I won't make it to the Windows 7 loading screen and I'll have random disk read errors, freezing during the Windows 7 loading screen, and random lockups.

How should I go about troubleshooting this at this point? I keep meaning to check the error logs in Windows but I tend to ADD and forget it's an issue once everything is up and going. Assuming it is a hard drive issue, how would I know? Suggestions?
