Hey guys,
I am looking at building a new pc in about 2 months and wanted to get some opinions. I know how to actually assemble, troubleshoot, and install needed software but I'm not great at making sure my purchases are the best bang for their buck. I have a 4 year old computer with these specs :
460 GTX
I5 2.6 ghz quad
8 gigs of ram (generic to the best of my knowledge)
500 gig hd, 2 dvd burners, asus motherboard and 500 watt power supply
I would like to keep this computer functioning to pass onto my son as an internet ready pc that can run his educational games and maybe some other simple stuff. It runs most programs well, but I want something that runs new stuff GREAT and also allows me to stream. So here is what I want:
-Atleast 2 monitors (what im currently running) but I would prefer 3. These arent included in the cost of the pc construction though, I just want to make sure I have enough gpu to run 3 monitors.
-I want to hook up a projector that was gifted to me to watch movies and turn my pc into a true entertainment center for my family/guests.
-SSD, ive heard great things but I don't know where to start
-More ram, I don't know whats the best bang for your buck right now
-An I7 or a compareable AMD... I am not biast one way or another.
-A blue ray drive, I think one will do this time as I didnt really need 2 in the older pc
-A motherboard or soundcard that will support setting up a home theater to support my projector.
I am open to any other must haves (cooling system, large power source to support sli, whatever.) I just don't want to spend 2000 bucks if I dont have to.
If you could give me links/price points per item that would be a huge help and maybe explain why you chose what you did. You guys are great! Thanks in advance!
