Now my problem is that I need to get the budget down to about $1000 but still maintain the ability to play games at about the lower end of "High" upper level of Medium quality.

I already have a copy of Windows 8.1 available to me and the monitor is still a question mark as well. The monitor doesn't have to be anything too big or fancy (preferably no larger than like I dunno 18 inches?) just something good enough that I can get the most out of running a game at high/medium-high settings. The monitor also can push the price past $1000 but preferably not too far. Also and this is just my curiosity how exactly should I handle sound? I've had laptops for years now so I've not had to worry about speakers or anything but I can dig up some old speakers somewhere if I need to.

The graphics card here just seems to be the killer as far as price goes which makes some sense considering I will ONLY be using the computer for gaming.

Is this possible?

(Bonus points if you can make it not require vats of liquid nitrogen to cool and the smaller the physical footprint the better as it will most likely be under a desk.)
