Hey guys,
since my old thing under my table is slowly dying, I need to upgrade. The only thing I will be using it for is Gaming any maybe some CAD in the future(~2 years). The whole build should last me some years (~3-4) without any upgrades and maybe 7-8 years or longer with upgrades. Currently, I play at 1920x1080 on a 60Hz monitor. But my plan is to upgrade this Christmas to 120Hz. What do you recommend ?
The current build I'm planning to buy looks like this:
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s
1 x Crucial M500 240GB, 2.5", SATA 6Gb/s
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K, 4x 3.50GHz, boxed
1 x Crucial Ballistix Sport DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1600, CL9-9-9-24
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X, 4GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, full retail
1 x MSI Z87-G43
1 x Samsung SH-224DB schwarz, SATA, bulk
1 x Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (FD-CA-ARC-R2-BL)
1 x be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 550W ATX 2.31 (P10-550W/BN200)
Now I thought, maybe I could save some money and buy a Xeon E3-1230v3, and a cheap motherboard with H87 chipset. What do you think ? Is the i7 worth the money ?
Another thing that is bothering me is the upcoming Haswell-Refresh. Inofficially it will be released on 11th May. Should I wait ? Especially since I'm trying to build a system that will last as long as possible, I think the better materials Intel annouced could improve the lifetime.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day/evening/night!
