Maybe I'm out of touch because I haven't bought GPU for a long time.
I'm running 750ti I'm look to upgrade to 2060. But some of the posts are saying how 2060 isn't worth it anymore. Like wtf are you running???
It shouldn't cost $500 to buy GPU to just to play modern shitty optimized AAA games.
I feel like cycle of abuse going on where gamers buy more expensive GPUS that enables game devs to make shitty optimized games, which in then enables necessity for people to buy more expensive GPUS.
People say nvidia is greedy but I think the consumers are just as greedy imho.
EDIT: Maybe i'm just too poor
But I think it's also my buying philosophy. I don't really buy new GPU unless I literally can't run the game. In this case I'm buying 2060 so I can run ready or not.
EDIT2:
Thanks for the AMD recommendations. But I probably need Nvidia. Not because I'm fucking Nvidia fanboy or some bullshit. I use blender, do graphics programming, plan to do some generative AI, fusion 360, which coincidently to point towards nvidia. Source
EDIT3: Purpose of this post?
I don't get this very black and white mentality that the community only has to talk about building advice. Sure, this is not your average post.
Can I not make a meta post about this subreddit or social commentary about the mindless consumption of high end GPUs? GPU prices are peak example of shifting baseline syndrome that should be raised awareness more often.
Imho I'm only stating the elephant in the room here that no one dares to speak out because of the tendency of advices here keeps upselling unnecessarily that makes people uncomfortable. I'm doing this to relieve my and many others this frustration. You don't have to necessarily "cry" for us, but not having clue what this purpose of this post seems like lack of empathy or experience to me.
Some people are intertwining passion into this and hence it's why they spend alot, even implying I'm not passionate enough. But that's what I'm calling bullshit. It seems like you are passionate about consumption involved in the PC building, not the PC building itself. Most of these consumption-based "passion" people spend a lot to cover insecurities or have some sense of superiority over people. They feel the need to latch on to some hobby to make themselves artificially interesting and stay relevant.
I KNOW 2060 is shit value. I KNOW 4070 provides better performance for price. But the matter of the fact is GPU consumers are in this fucked up position where every additional $100 you spend you get exponentially better performance but that performance is very likely to be wasted for most people.
i have the 2060. it runs fine with AAA games. obv if you pay more, it gets better but its totally playable. but if youre buying it used right now in 2024. you'll probably get better ones for the same price. just look out for a few models that are in your price range
