So I had my old 1080 ti started getting really hot and thermal throttled bad. So I cleaned out the heat-sink, repasted it, and also replaced the fans that had ruined bearings to the point that one fan didn't spin at all and the other hardly spun. on HWinfo my gpu temp never excess 55 Celsius anymore even under intense load but its usually around 45-50. But my hotspot under load does jump to right about 84 degrees on the button. I know the gpus thermal limit is 84 so I'm assuming I'm hitting a thermal limit somewhere and the discrepancy is making me wonder if I should pull it apart again because when I re pasted it I didn't replace the pads with new pads I ended up cleaning off the old pads and reusing them because I was under the impression repasting the die was the important part. Seeing my cpu in the same load doesn't get to 60 peak it feels weird the gpu hotspot is the only thing close to thermal throttling if HWinfo is accurate. Or am I just paranoid and its supposed to work like that?
