CPU fan woes

My cpu fan worked as far as I know until I opened the case to add RAM and a new ssd
Now the fan does nothing, even at over 80C it’s idle. I didn’t change any bios settings, and there’s no tamper switch for the case.
Oddly, if the connector is just touching the pins but not plugged all the way in, it spins up at full speed. If I manually spin it, bios read the fan rpm.
Is it time for a new fan? Or am I missing something?
