Baseline was Paul's Hardware BOTM for November. Revision 2 was due to needing a wifi-capable board. As I began acquiring the less expensive components, I got a flyer from Micro Center for a Ryzen 5 5600X3D bundle.
So that puts me here as of this morning. All the parts except CPU, motherboard, and GPU are ordered and en route. Prices are slightly skewed as they reflect individual costs vs combo price ($270 USD for CPU/mobo/second RAM kit).
I'm aware that there is a mismatch between the DDR4-3600 memory I already ordered and the 3200 that comes with the combo. From what I've read, I should be able to manually adjust the timings on the faster RAM to match the slower, yes?
Except for Sims 4 expansion packs, I haven't bought any games since late 2021, so my library is slightly old. I'd prefer to game at 1440p, since that's what my monitor can do. 1080p at 144 Hz would be my next preference. The A770 is also on my radar as ARC prices and driver improvements make it more worth a look.
Thoughts before I make the road trip to Micro Center to grab the big-ticket components?
