Need advice for my first gaming setup: Nvidia RTX 3060 (12GB) vs. RTX 3060 Ti (8GB) for 1080p gaming and design software

Post Body

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of building my first gaming setup, and I'm really excited about it. However, I have a bit of a dilemma in choosing the right graphics card. I'm an architecture student, and in addition to gaming, I also use design software for my projects.

The two options I'm considering are the Nvidia RTX 3060 with 12GB VRAM and the RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB VRAM. While my primary focus is smooth gaming experiences at 1080p resolution, I also want to ensure that my chosen GPU can handle design software efficiently for my architecture work.

Considering the unoptimized nature of some games and the VRAM requirements of design applications, I'm unsure if the additional VRAM on the RTX 3060 would be more beneficial for me, or if I should prioritize the RTX 3060 Ti's better overall performance.

If any of you have experience with design software and gaming or can offer insights on how these cards perform in such scenarios, I'd greatly appreciate your advice. I want to make the best choice for both my gaming and architecture needs. Additionally, as a first-time builder, any general tips or advice would be incredibly helpful. Thank you all in advance!
