I recently upgraded my PC from an 8700k to a 13700k and am using an NZXT Kraken z63 AIO to cool it with. I haven't really done much hardware-intensive stuff on it due to college work until today, when I realized that my CPU package temps were hitting 90 - 100C when trying to view a blender scene in "rendered" mode in the viewport, and my PC keeps bluescreening when attempting to render an image. The scene itself isn't super intensive (would have run without issue prior to my upgrade), but the PC immediately thermal throttles even with side panels off. After looking at my baseline temps, I noticed my idle range is about 39-50C, and temporarily goes up to 60 when opening blender. Light loads such as chrome and word are around the same as idle temps.Â
I've already tried reapplying thermal paste and am still experiencing the same results. I initially thought it might be an issue with my AIO pump. Still, liquid temps do seem to change under load, and I am able to feel a slight vibration coming from the pump and a noticeable difference in temperature between the two tubes going to the radiator. Should I try mounting the cooler again and replacing the thermal paste, or should I try something different? I have been having a bit of trouble mounting the water block since the LGA1200 mounting equipment I got for my cooler doesn't make it easy to center the block without it shifting on the CPU, so any tips to help keep it centered would be appreciated. Also, I've done some reading and found that the 13700k is a bit of a heat generator, to say the least. Are these kind of temps typical for the 13700k under load even with a proper cooling solution, and should I consider undervolting instead? Anything helps!
