My X99 setup might have finally given up after of course just buying a new GPU. It won't allow me to get into windows unless I reflash the bios (tried both recent ones) and after it does work, if I restart it boots into recover until I flash again (every time). The QCodes switch between GPU related and RAM, but I have swapped parts to make sure and it still happens.
So at the current moment I'm looking at either a 13600k w/Asus TUF B760M-Plus (will use my current Corsair Vengeance 8GBx4 DDR4 3200 cl16) or 7600X w/Gigabyte B650M DS3H & Fury Beast 16GBx2 DDR5 5200 cl36.
Intel setup: $640CAD (CPU & Mobo) AMD setup: $650CAD (CPU, Mobo & RAM)
Might need to get a new cooler or at the least buy the adapter from Noctua (will need to wait for shipping)
I currently have a Asus X99 Deluxe, Xeon 1650v3 (3.8Ghz all cores), 4 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 CL16, Noctua D14, Intel A770 (ReBar enabled w/bios mod) and 650w Gold PSU.
What do you think the better value is? The 13600k seems to be the winner but the 1700 platform is likely done after this gen whereas the AM5 supposedly will go to 2025 even though it's a 10% perf loss under the Intel. I currently game at 1080p and will switch to 1440p maybe this summer, if my x99 didn't die I'd have gone 1440p today.
UPDATE: Bought the 13600k, although I got an MSI B-760P instead. Will likely go Z790 when DDR5 is more mature and cheaper.
