where’s the ocean in the finale?

several times throughout the series, we see buffy at the docks at kingmans bluff. once with angel in season two, again with faith in season three, and a couple more times before the show ends. but when we see sunnydale cave in in the final episode, it’s completely landlocked, no water in sight. anyone have an explanation?
