Nicholas’s role in criminal minds was right after Buffy, In rewatches i always think it is long after Buffy. Maybe it was the role or maybe his acting improved, but i loved him as Kevin but could not find that connection with Xander. What do you guys think?

Xander was one of the heroes in BtVs.
This linking Joss with Joss is a fallacy. It has to stop.
Xander got his arm broken, protecting Anya and Willow. He got his eye gouged out, making sure the potentials were safe.
Joss wasn't allowed to be a room alone with Michelle T.
The fact that Joss said that he modelled Xander on himself clouds people's judgment.
Xander is the man who Joss wishes he was. Their one similarity is their humour. Joss is a wimp and a coward. Xander put his life and safety on the line multiple times.

They actually don't have a leg to stand on. Xander is the heart of the group, loved by Buffy and Willow. And yet the haters continue their agenda.

You mean how Willow yells at Xander for having a relationship with Cordy? Hos about when Willow clearly hated Anya as she was scared that she'd hurt Xander.
Also, Xander literally saves the lives of Willow, Buffy, Cordelia and Giles in the first two seasons. And again in season 3 when he stopped Jack from blowing up the basement.
How about talking Willow from ending the world?
But yeah, that pales into insignificant when compared to imaginary slights.

They do make this place unwelcome and even hostile. I've lost count of the people here who have insulted me then blocked me before I could reply.
I also never downvote anyone. Too many people weaponize the downvote system. I'm better than that.

I'll dumb it down: Joss is delusional.
Yes. It is a well documented fact that Joss Whedon wrote Xander specifically as a proxy for himself.
That doesn't mean anything. That just means that Joss thins himself as brave as Xander. He is not.
As for Xander, sure, he did those brave things. But! He also constantly made remarks to/about Buddy despite her clear and consistent stance against dating him.
Which is why he dated Cordelia in season 2. People talk about Xander like he's a Miss Havisham, where he spends his entire life pining after Buffy. He got over her.
He cheated on Cordelia.
Willow had something to do with that.
He was always making back handed remarks to/about Anya.
Which is why she loved him and wanted to marry him?
He was fantasizing about the potentials in what remains one of these grossest scenes in the shows history.

Dawn was 18 and Xander was 23. If you think a 5 year age gap is a lot then wait till you meet the perfect man/woman who is 5 years older than you. I'd bet you wouldn't reject them because it's gross.
