Got a question that I’ve been wondering about for a while

Throughout S4 it’s implied or outright stated that Tara has a secret she’s hiding. She tells Willow that she doesn’t know everything about her and even sabotages a spell so Willow won’t “see” her.

Then, in S5 “Family,” it’s revealed that she thinks she’s part demon only for it to turn out that the whole thing was a misogynistic family brainwashing to keep the women in line and Tara is 100% human.

So my question is, does anyone know if the writers always intended to have this be the end game with Tara or was there a different idea in place? It seems like a lot of foresight and buildup for what was essentially a one-off episode for a reoccurring character (don’t get me wrong, I love Tara! It just seems like the original plan was different)

Comments

Yes. It was always planned that her Dad was manipulating her.
