Do you think Buffy left because Joyce kicked her out or because she couldn't handle facing everyone and the consequences of the happenings from the night before and continuing her old life after killing Angel? It just got me thinking how Joyce wasn't a terrible parent and after an incident like that I wouldn't consider myself really "kicked out"
Joyce 100% did not kick Buffy out of the house.
Joyce didn't want her teenage daughter to go out after midnight on a school night. Which is understandable.
Buffy pushed Joyce into the kitchen counter, so, in a moment of anger and desperation, Joyce made a thinly veiled threat expecting Buffy to back down and stay in.
It was a bluff.
It was evident by the look of regret on her face after Buffy left.
Sadly for Joyce, Buffy didn't fall for the bluff.
If Buffy returned home after killing Angel, Joyce would have welcomed her back with open arms.
If any fans think that Joyce genuinely kicked Buffy out of the house, I have some magic beans in my possession. PM me for more details.
Saying something impulsively usually holds zero meaning.
Remember when Joyce found Buffy's goodbye note on the bed after she returned for her clothes? Joyce looked crestfallen.
If Joyce had kicked her out, she would've just read the note and threw it in the bin.
"Throwing her out of the house" implies that Joyce wouldn't have taken Buffy back into the house. We saw in season 3 that that wasn't the case.
If you kick someone out you kick someone out. You don't kick someone out and hope they return... if you mean it.

By "Throwing Buffy out" it would infer that she Joyce would not have welcomed Buffy back.
Would Joyce have welcomed Buffy back that very evening?
