Up to episode 8 and the amount of hate Buffy is getting each episode from her friends, watcher, and mother is really just starting to make frustrated through the screen.
The first 5 episodes had everyone constantly on her case and treating her like a villain for skipping town but conveniently forgetting that her mom kicked her out, she was expelled, and she had to kill angel. Now that angel's back, everyone is saying she's harboring a murderer and forgetting that it wasn't angel but the demon who did the killings.
While the immaturity and stuff I can expect from the teenagers, the adults in the show are just as bad. Buffy's mom refuses to acknowledge her mistakes and Giles has lost all of his stoicness and seems way less of an advocate.
Now none of this would be too bad on its own but there is no resolution. Buffy gets yelled at for 20 minutes, there's a fight, and then all tension just kinda dissapates and everyone is friends again? Not even an apology scene or any kind of resolution when the rest of the gang was clearly in the wrong.
Does this get any better or is it gonna be just as frustrating for the rest of the season?
Joyce never kicked her out. She didn't want her daughter to leave the house after midnight. It's hardly unreasonable. Joyce made a bluff.
Buffy DID leave her friends and mother in the lurch and in danger from the army of the undead. Going the whole summer without contacting them in the process .
And she DID harbour a murderer.
As far as I'm concerned Buffy made mistakes and she was deservedly scolded for it.
How would she have felt in any of her friends or Watcher got killed by a Vampire?
Season 3 is perhaps the best season.
