Budgies walking on the floor

Is it normal for them to like walking around? They just started walking on the floor last week and sometimes eat things they find on the ground (like bits of dirt, since I have plants, so there’s some dirt on the floor). When I noticed it, I threw some seeds on the ground, thinking it might be better than dirt. Is this normal behavior for budgies?
