Post Body

This is my new Budgie Petrie. He used to be called “Bird” and didnt really have a name from previous owner. Ive had him for about a month now and I know it takes a LONG time to get them to be able to be tamed, properly communicated with , ect.

I am new to this sub reddit so here is what I know and maybe someone can help me !

Before I start, My bird was kinda just dropped on me from a family friend, and Im a BIG animal lover. So i took it in Even with my lack of knowledge at first. I watched alot of video and asked questions but i still dont have alot of answers

Previous owner stated that Petrie had a bird friend, and their dog ate it :( So thats horrible and I can only imagine losing that friend for him is hard. I currently am not funded enough to get petrie another friend as well as two separate cages to tame them separately rately in as well as a bigger cage for the after fact

previous owner does not know the gender (assuming male) or the age of the bird

i can rest my hand near, in or on his cage and he wont be bothered. if I get to close, he will lean back a little or will skitter like a crab to the other side of his pirch farthest away from me.

He does this thing where he flapps his wings really fast while sitting and it sounds like a helicopter. Hell flap his wings (to what it hears about) Maybe 5 times every 2 seconds? and he typically does this about four times in a row each and every time.

If anyone had any questions to ask me to further help my situation out, Please ask! Or if you can answer some of mine as well as help me out as a new bird owner, please reach out!
