I can’t discourage my bird from laying eggs
Post Body

Single female. She started laying eggs in March and has been on and off since, but lately she is fully in “egg” mode and just won’t stop.

We removed her coconut (nest) where she used to spend all day inside of. Now she treats the whole cage as a nest: she sits at the bottom, tail up and fluffed, and she doesn’t poop AT ALL. The second I take her out of her cage, she drops an insanely large dropping.

Has anyone dealt with this? We have tried changing her cage layout, changing the paper, relocating her (which worked for a week, she was normal but then went back to this “rearing” behaviour), removed all mirrors and nests, and I’m just worried she’s in hormonal distress.

Btw - I don’t think she is egg bound as there are no signs by her vent and can’t feel an egg when I massage her tummy. She was like this for a week with no egg, then I moved her and she was normal for another week, but now back to this (it’s been maybe 5 days). Hoping I can do something for her.
