Budget $150 family of 5 for the next 2 weeks

Post Body

Please no judgmentā€”when I posted in another sub, people were criticizing me and even threatening me. So, for this week and next, we have a $150 food budget, and Iā€™ll be shopping at Aldi tomorrow. Can anyone suggest budget-friendly recipes and meal ideas to keep us within budget? Iā€™m already thinking pasta could be a good option since itā€™s affordable, but Iā€™m open to other ideas. We had some unexpected home repairs and medical leaving us with just $150 for food and $50 for gas. That $50 is essential for gas since we live off post and need to drive to base daily. Any advice is appreciated ā¤ļø

(Family of 5)

Edit: Thank you so much for all the support; it truly means a lot ā¤ļø. Just to add some context, as Iā€™ve been receiving negative messagesā€”Iā€™m dual military and recently lost both my parents, which left me responsible for my siblings. This has been a huge shift, and weā€™re still adjusting financially and trying to sort everything out. Iā€™m also unexpectedly pregnant, which I only found out about two months into my deployment. I came home excited to start my family, but life changed so fast.

**To those sending hateful comments and messages (which Iā€™m blocking, so donā€™t waste your time): mind your own business. Iā€™m here for recipe and budget advice, not for unsolicited opinions youā€™re only willing to give from behind a screen.

Make sure you look into social security for your siblings. I believe if you are their guardian you should get some monthly help to take care of them.

Family size packs of pork and chicken will be your cheapest meat. Big bags of rice and dried beans will be cheap and easy. Buy whatever frozen veggies are the cheapest so they won't go bad. As long as you have some seasoning you should be able to make a lot of meals. Also eggs are great. I don't have a ton of recipes but if you can swing it tortillas are always great to throw some meat rice and or beans and veggies in with some Mexican seasoning.
