Wow, what a journey! Last update was on 2021-02-20 and a LOT has happened since then!
- 2021-02-23 We have a CHIP!!!
Then, I did a series on example uses:
- 2021-02-27 Introducing Group Tokens for Bitcoin Cash - Part 1/N - Stablecoin Example
- 2021-03-01 Introducing Group Tokens for Bitcoin Cash - Part 2/N - Atomic Swap Examples
- 2021-03-06 Introducing Group Tokens for Bitcoin Cash - Part 3/N - CoinJoin
- 2021-03-14 Introducing Group Tokens for Bitcoin Cash - Part 4/N - Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs)
and then boom, the first statement came:
- 2021-04-02 General Protocols Statement on "CHIP-2021-02 Group Tokenization for Bitcoin Cash", from GeneralProtocols. I didn't exactly like it, as you will see from my cheeky response. However, I'm glad to say that in the meantime I have clarified it with emergent_reasons and we found understanding. We both want a steel-man proposal which can stand strong, and a steel-man proposal is what this community is going to get!
- 2021-04-03 Response to General Protocols Statement on "CHIP-2021-02 Group Tokenization for Bitcoin Cash". Here something quite unexpected happened, seems like someone liked that cheekines hah! Marc de Mesel noticed it and gave me a $1000 tip which blew my mind! Thank you again Marc! It felt really good to get this kind of support. Some discussion followed.
and then some more talks, statements, criticism...
- 2021-04-05 BCH Discussions - GROUP Proposal: a protocol upgrade that brings native miner-validated tokens, live talk with John Moriarty as host, and Andrew Stone, Calin Culianu, and imaginary_username as guests. This started a wave of discussions:
- 2021-04-06 Another positive statement, yay!
- 2021-04-07 Received first criticism. Why I don't see the point of group-tokens, by Thomas Zander. This started another wave of discussions:
Phew, after all that I'm both exhausted and excited at the same time! Armed with this experience, I'm looking forward to the next iteration of the CHIP. Stay tuned!
PS If anyone is wondering about SmartBCH which got announced in the meantime, I think it's awesome! Read this excellent summary by fixthetracking. What I'd love to see is tokens being able to move back and forth, so holders could choose whether to use them simply as cash on BCH chain or plug them into SmartBCH EVM and use for full-powered DeFi. SmartBCH has an advantage in that it's not constrained by the BCH upgrade cycle, so they can fly high and develop whatever they want! Go SmartBCH, fly!
