opreturn has been a long time supporter of tokens on BCH, and he did a whole lot of work during the SLP era, he doesn't have a Reddit account so I'm posting to help him out, and because I believe it's a worth-while effort!

BCHD was late for the upgrade, because it doesn't have active maintainers (Chris Pacia & Josh Ellithorpe are both focused on other projects), which is unfortunate because it was the favorite node implementation for both SLP and sBCH apps.

Now opreturn is willing to step up and commit to upgrading the node with May '24 specification, and with the intention of taking the maintainer role, but not everyone can afford to work 350 hours pro-bono, thus the flipstarter.

If funded, then the BCHD project could be rejuvenated, and it could become a great foundation for the growing CashTokens ecosystem, since it is packed with developer-friendly features such as integrated indexing and feature-rich API.
