Expat is in quotations because I am actually a British citizen (dual citizenship), but I've not been to the UK before so functionally I end up being a foreigner.
I'm hoping to move to Birmingham in October, but really I'll end up leaving once I have all my ducks in a row. I've not been to the UK before, nor have I travelled at all (family couldn't afford it). I live in the absolute sticks in a small/low population province in Canada, so moving to a proper city is kind of scary. But I want to do it: there's a whole world out there and I refuse to go without seeing it.
Anyone have any tips or advice to ease the transition for this country bumpkin? Any quirks of Brum I should know about? Anyone's go-to to make friends/build a social circle? Thanks! 💙
