I really hate how Rochester treats Blanche Ingram
Post Body

So I know that Blanche is the stereotypical mercenary, Caroline-Bingley type who just wants to marry Rochester for his money. But she's still a (fictional) human person and what he did to her was rotten! It was downright cruel especially since we know he never would have married her.

The flirting stuff isn't that bad because that maybe could just be seen as his personality, but when they do the charade and he fake marries her, and then jokes afterwards, "Remember, we're married." that was just beyond the pale for me.

Yes, I know Blanche is mean to Jane, but I don't think it's that normal for the governess to hang with the company. And yes, Blanche isn't excited that Adele is around, but from what I understand it was pretty rude/unorthodox/perhaps cruel to ask your wife to raise your mistress baby. So again, understandable.

Blanche's worst crime is wanting to marry for money which would have been what she was taught to do since birth most likely. She didn't deserve what Rochester did to her and it makes me mad. And even Jane got fairly worked up about it so I don't think I'm being absurd.
