You know, those dudes in college who were always shirtless any chance they could be. They would walk around at parties, hanging on each other without shirts and arms around each other. Would play video games naked together. This is fairly common and I’ve seen it among both jock types and nerdy D&D types.

For me, it was always elusive. My male friendships were held back by a lot of toxic masculinity and internalized homophobia. We were more fist bump types than arms around each other types, even though I wanted nothing more than to be the latter. I was always too insecure to ask to hang out shirtless or naked, and because of that insecurity it probably wouldn’t have ended well had I done so.

Many will say “oh, they are just gay” but I know from experience it’s not easy to find that kind of bromance dynamic with your typical gay guy as they are more interested in sex. We wouldn’t be able to get 10 minutes into a naked movie night without him wanting to push it to sex.

How do the dudes that are lucky enough to have that kind of bromance get it?
