i find it strangely mysterious but also very frustrating that there seems to be no release day midnight showings of big upcoming movies since the pandemic, with no apparent reason as to why they stopped.

I have no idea why, but ever since the pandemic, they seem to have stopped midnight showings on the release day of big movies but continue to have showings past midnight after the movie has released, why!?
They used to be an event that you could attend and know that other dedicated fans who were as passionate as you were going to be there, but now instead you have to settle for the first showing in the morning.
I've experienced this most recently with the ticket release of the new Dr Strange movie and before that Spider-Man NWH. I used to adore going to midnight showings and watching them with other fans.
