Figured I would grab my snacks I wanted from a nearby corner store thats just had a co-op open nearby. They've always be friendly and have good prices, so thought I'd give them money instead of a big corporation...

Other bits are only a little out of date
Thankfully it wasnt anything serious like milk, but its a shame because I probably wont go back now because I dont want to have to check expiry dates on every item lol
Small local shops can't compete with the big chains. The big chains can afford to sell at a loss, the small local ones can't.
So they either buy up the leftover stock from the distributor and sell them at around the same price as the big chains or they buy the same produce as the big chains and sell them at a slightly higher price.
