Hoping for some advice from people working in the trades in/around Victoria.
I’m 35m and wanting to pivot to carpentry. I’ve mostly worked in the arts and in admin and I’m wondering the best way to get started and what to expect. I don’t have any experience really, but I’m reliable, I’m strong, and love working in a tactile way.
Here are my questions, any insight is greatly appreciated!
should I go to camosun and do their foundations course, or just try and get hired and learn as I go?
if I start without any schooling is it still possible to go the apprentice route eventually?
again, without schooling, what could I expect to start at in terms of wage? Where can I get up to?
do you get hired to a company and are just constantly employed, or is more like contract work so you’ll have a gig for a few months and then have to look again?
