I just finished reading "Maiden Voyage" by Denton Welch.
I don't always read queer material but Denton Welch was gay and the book is definitely queer, but doesn't come under LGBT.
It's a travelogue of a young man in colonial China (1930s). He ran away from boarding school but went back to finish his last term. From there, he went to Shanghai and "involved himself in experience and adventure." He would often sneak out late at night and get up to all sorts of mischief. Although mild by comparison to some, it was still an interesting read. It is, however, like many of Welch's stories, plotless.
I've moved on to "Dirty Books" by Barry Reay from and Nina Attwood loaned from the State Library. Having read a little Henry Miller and AnaΓ―s Nin, it looked interesting but I'm not sure how much I'm really in the mood for non-fiction π
This week I loaned "Colour Bar" by Susan Williams after watching "A United Kingdom" (very touching film!) and I may default. See how I go.
What are you reading?
(Edited a bunch because I'm pedantic af)
