Electrician charged $1750 for safety switches
Post Body

Basically I just want to see if I got shafted! One of my safety switches in my fuse box was playing up and tripping intermittently. So the electrician tested everything and asked if I wanted to just replace the broken ones or all. After discussing it I decided he may as well do all as the house was built in 2007 and they were all original. The aircon and stove didn't have any safety switches and I have small kids so I thought I'll get them all done in one go.

Does that sound like a reasonable price??

Edit: Woah so many responses! Thanks. More info the $1750 price included GST, they were at the property for maybe 1.5hrs and there was two of them. Here's what they wrote on the invoice:

Call out to the property to diagnose nuisance tripping safety switch. Perform diagnostics and inspection on circuit (two power circuits) and found no fault between any of the conductors. Safety switch deemed faulty as it would intermittently turn off (tripping power safety switch would also Trip lighting safety switch). Disconnected and decommissioned all switchgear in switchboard and supply and install the following; 50 amp main switch circuit breaker 16. Amp safety switch for oven circuit. 16. Amp safety switch for air conditioning circuit. 16. Amp safety switch for power circuit (two circuits). 10 am safety switch for lighting circuit Apply fire seal to All cable penetration as required Tested and commission as per 3000, prior, and after energising.
