Any time they were told "no", they ramped up the crazy until it was a "yes". And so that's what they learned: never accept no, just say/do whatever it takes and people will buckle eventually.
I would guess these people have some sort of mental illness or deliberate blindness to the humanity of others. And many of them don't need jobs; they can just leach off of their significant others. The ones that do get and keep jobs often end up doing well in the corporate world. I have saidly seen a few of them and they are able to Get Shit Done but they also leave a wake of destruction behind them.
