My little bridezilla moment over tablecloths...
Post Body

TLDR: had my first real bridezilla moment over tablecloths. store sell me a roll shorter than its supposed to be. thankfully realise my "zilla" before actually going off at anyone.

For context: my partner and I are getting ready in 5 months and having a very budget friendly wedding. As a result I'm doing a lot of stuff DIY and making the table cloths myself because its about 300% cheaper, and I have the time to do it. I'm also in Australia so I'm using metres (m) as my measurements. The store this concerns has fabric on big rolls. you go up and tell them how much you want and they just cut it off, put the roll back.

We are having long ass tables, so I needed my fabric in 10m continuous lengths. I waited until there was a sale and went to two separate locations to ensure I got what I needed. At the second location, they had a new 30m roll of fabric in the colour I needed. I was so happy. Brand new, would get me 3 lengths in that colour I needed, and because I was buying the whole roll I could keep the heavy duty cardboard roll (me: I can store the tablecloths on it for ease!).

So far so good, yeh? So I started all my cutting (width wise, not length) and start sewing my colours together. Then I reached the end of my third lot from this roll only to realise that the the white is short. Turns out, after remeasuring the ENTIRE roll, its only 27m, leaving me with 7m of useless material that is too short to make a tablecloth.

Well that was it. I was on the verge of angry tears. I've already cut the fabric in two so the 7m is no longer returnable, even though there is a strict no returns policy on fabrics anyway. The fabric is off sale and now double the price. I either have to go and repurchase the whole new 10m or sew on an extra bit I'll need to go buy, meaning there will be an ugly seam randomly on the table. My partner and I had about a ten minute meltdown.

Finally I composed myself, reminded myself that nobody but me cares about F***ing table cloths and no one will care if there is a seam, and just packed up for the night. However, I did send a tightly worded email to the company about their rolls not being the correct lengths.

Thought I'd share a somewhat comical story about a bride freaking out over nothing (that didn't end up with anyone getting their feelings hurt thank god). I'm starting to see how some brides go off the rails over small stuff, wish me luck for the rest of it :/

EDIT/UPDATE: thank you to all you wonderful people! After emailing the head office they express posted me out a $50 gift card which will cover a replacement length and have a bit left over. At the end, it wasn’t going to cost me that much to replace it myself if they didnt come to the party, but like many pointed out, it’s the principle! Thanks to everyone who commented, and hopefully your bridezillas can see the funny side sometimes too :P

I absolutely understand the meltdown (I've cried over tiny stuff in stressful periods) and admire that you had a moment of self-reflection and didn't lash out at a poor store assistant (as a true Bridezilla would do).
