TW: over supply
My first was born in Sept 2021 and he was not allowed to breastfeed while in the NICU. Extremely traumatic 64 hour induction in lockdowns. Terrible hospital and treatment. Upon discharge, we switched to EBF via nursing at home and pumping while I worked. We successfully nursed until he was 14 months old. I was pressured to wean because my daughter was due to be born. He had cows milk for about a month or two.
Once she was born, after overcoming a hospital readmission and later a laser for tongue tie, she is EBF via nursing and pumping when at work. My son also resumed his breastfeeding journey a few weeks after she was born, via exclusively pumping (he had no interest in latching but refused cows milk.) He still takes 16 oz per day of breastmilk.
My daughter still nurses every 2 hours at night as well (I don’t mind) , thankfully my son started sleeping thought the night at 9 months.
I love providing both babies with breastmilk. I am tandem feeding in a way I didn’t imagine, one baby nursing and the other exclusively pumping. I have even donated as well.
I have no intention of weaning as both kids are super happy and healthy. I love the bond we share.
I can’t believe I’ve been going since Sept 21, (with maybe an 8 week break)
Thanks for listening and I hope this inspires someone to keep going too :)
I feel that as long as you are producing and the kids want to keep breastfeeding, you don't need to stop. Just keep going for as long as you all want to do it.
