I’m having horrible nipple pain, babe is 5w old, I’ve been to a lactation consultant and there are no ties. LC says there is no obvious signs of damage. Babe has no obvious signs of thrush. No redness on the breast or lumps.
It feels like burning, slicing pain when latching, feeding and after. My letdown feels painful sometimes too like a construction inside the breast or strong pins and needles.
If anything touches my nipples they hurt, they always are erect at the moment and sensitive to anything.
I BF my other child for a year with no issues, I’m not sure what’s happening now. I’m very stressed.
I have tried lanolin, nipple shields, pumping (I don’t seem to have a good letdown for it), heating before and after feeds, different positions.
Lactation consultant suggested it could be vasospasm although I’ve not had it before and my nipples don’t go blue or red, sometimes white on the end but not always and mostly when I take him off to fix a bad latch.
I’m feeling very nervous to latch him every feed and it’s affecting my day to day.
I am going back to the LC next week but in the meantime I am asking for any advice, I don’t want to stop feeding him and I will try and push through.
