I was diagnosed with ILC - in Dec 2023 and have been told multiple times I wouldn’t need chemo. Had a lumpectomy that Dec (with a SLNB that came back clean) and just had a DMX a little over a week ago.
Now that pathology from the mastectomy has come back, it seems like I was closer to stage 2 than my doctors originally thought and they’re recommending 4 rounds of TC (taxotere and cytoxan).
I’m just in shock. I still have drains, I’m currently boobless, and I was not expecting this news today. I have my first infusion in June and now I have to start thinking about freezing my eggs and cold capping. Both are way more expensive than I imagined. I’m 31 and recently married with no kids yet but hopeful for them in the future.
This is just a lot! I feel similar now to when I was first diagnosed. This is mostly a vent but if anyone has good tips for cold capping or financial resources for cold capping/egg freezing I’d be grateful. I’ll eventually do my own research I’m just still feeling a bit shocked.
It is through Paxman! I’m at Dana Farber in Boston for treatment and they got me all set up with them (I’ve just filled out the initial paperwork so far), so I actually didn’t even realize there were other options.
They told me about $2k at the hospital, I just filled out the paperwork for Paxman. There was a financial aid piece that I filled out but I’m not sure what that will look like
Yes that would be great! Thanks so much 🥰

My original pathology from the lumpectomy included a low MammaPrint score, so between that and the fact nothing was found in my lymph nodes I was pretty confident I wouldn’t need chemo. But I have lobular BC which is a sneaky little bitch! The tumors are harder to measure because they’re so much less cohesive than other tumors and harder to see on imaging. It sounds like they had a hard time staging me because of that.
