Holy swollen armpit, Batman!

Post Body

I had lumpectomy w/sentinel node removal on the 26th. I wrote an earlier post about a seroma forming in my breast. There seems to be less fluid sloshing around in there, but now my armpit is so swollen it looks like I’m a bodybuilder on that side. When others told me they got their seromas drained I was like HELLLLL NO I’ll wait this out rather than having a needle shoved in my armpit or breast (way too many needles since being diagnosed- you’d think I’d be used to it by now), but I made an appointment for early tomorrow morning. I cannot stand this feeling of not being able to put my arm down and am so worried my incision will burst open. I’m just hoping it’s a seroma and can be drained rather than lymphedema or some weird infection. I’m mostly posting so others are aware this could happen after node removal. Sorry for grossing anyone out. 😬 Wishing you all well wherever you are in your BC journeys!

We were surgery date buddies! Same procedure. Mine still feels quite swollen & fluid filled also but when I went for my post op appt the nurses told me that was normal and wouldn’t drain it…they said another needle poke would do more harm (potential infection) than good. But my god, I want it drained! I should’ve pushed them harder to do it. I feel your pain, literally.
