I have my mastectomy in less than a week. Tomorrow is my last day of work before my medical leave starts. My boss has been supportive, he made me a care basket. My husband has been amazing, he is taking a few weeks off work to be home with me. My mom is flying to town as well.
But honestly none of this really feels real to me. I feel like I am faking this even whenever I have my doctors' reports in my hand. I keep waiting for everything to feel like it's real, like it's happening and I don't want it to hit whenever I'm in the hospital getting ready for surgery.
Did anyone else just feel like they were faking or that it isn't as big of a deal as the people around them were acting? Does it change? When does it become real?

I 100% relate to this comment. I was just diagnosed on Tuesday and Iām waiting on MRI/surgery the day after Christmas to learn more. Edibles and dark humor are getting me through right now. I watched an episode of my comfort show, always sunny, the night I was diagnosed. It was āCharlies mom has cancerā and never laughed so hard.
