TW: pregnancy/abortion

I just need to vent since I feel like this is some kind of cosmic joke at this point.

I'm ER , PR , HER-. Lump is about 3cm (last time they checked size was last month). Unknown stage (I find that out this week hopefully when I do my MRI). Start chemo Wednesday. Ultimate plan is chemo, lumpectomy, radiation, hormone treatment. I'm 35 so genetic testing has been done. Waiting on results for that. If it comes back not so well then the game plan will change. I'll cross that road once we get there.

For my insurance I need referrals for EVERYTHING. The whole process has taken longer due to this. Could of started a month ago if I didn't have all the wait times between appointments.

Today I got my port put in. They had me do the urine test and before I went into surgery. Before I go back to surgery a nurse comes in and tells me: "We had you do the urine test to test for pregnancy. The results came back boarderline."

I have no idea what this is and ask her. She said she's never seen the results gome back like that. Read what the results says on the computer they say to either wait 48 hours and test again or a blood test can be done. I opt for the blood test while will be done after the surgery. Two more nurses came in prior to surgery and they said the same thing. They've never seen that before.

Surgery goes well. Nurse comes in and tells me that I am most likely pregnant. Not sure what the rating system actually is but 26 and higher is for sure pregnant. 5 to 25 is a very good chance. I'm 24.5.

Husband and I tried for about 10 years. 3 years ago we decided we didn't want kids but if it happened it happened. We're happy without kids.

Long story short. In addition to the 5 appointment ls I have this week for the cancer process I now have an abortion appointment (its early enough it would just be a pilll) as well. Apparently I am in VERY early stage of pregnancy qnd if I were to keep it chemo would have to be pushed back which myself, my husband and my care team do not want to run thay risk. We're by passing referrals to get it done ASAP and doing this out of pocket.

I'm fine with the abortion decision. It was just just something way out of left field.

He's going to be scheduling a surgery soon as well for himself to make sure this doesn't happen again.
