This post is serving 2 functions: one, to notify everyone of the newest addition to our ban bot; and two, to remind everyone of what the bot is, how it works, what subs are already on the list and what to do if it bans you.
ONE: We have now added r/prolife to Saferbot. This was done more or less at the request of its subscribers, since several of them caught Saferbot bans via other subs or bans from our sub due to breaking Rule 2, but hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good persecution complex. So we opted not to make liars out of them and add their sub to the bot per their wishes. Their views are also a violation of our 4th rule regarding support, as comments there range from thinking they are better mothers than women who choose differently to just flat-out denying support to women who are in a wide range of circumstances and have the right to retain bodily autonomy and control of our reproductive futures. We are not handmaids, and we will not congregate with anyone who seeks to relegate us to such.
TWO: Hang on, what is all this Saferbot business again? If you're confused by this post so far, boy have we got a wiki for you!
...seriously, go read the wiki.
We have that thing linked in like 4 different places and we still get modmails whining that "I had no idea this was a thing" and - worse - completely misinterpreting the whole situation, hurling invectives at us and turning it all into a massive shitshow. So READ THE FUCKING WIKI.
Need a TL;DR? We use a bot to scan for comments in subs that have caused problems for us and automatically ban anyone who comments in those subs. IT DOES NOT READ YOUR COMMENT. It does not know what you actually said. It does not know your mom status, or how long you've been in our sub, or whether you've read the wiki. It sees a comment in a blacklisted sub, it bans you. And yes, the notice does say "permanently banned" but that doesn't mean you can't be unbanned.
Probably 75% of the subs on the ban list are there because they keep brigading us with non-moms. So if you got banned via one of those subs, it is literally as easy as "Oops, I got botbanned by accident, here's a link to my post from last year about my toddler painting the dog with yogurt!" and we'll first add you to the whitelist (which means telling the bot to ignore your activity going forward so you can post wherever you like) and then we'll unban you (we have to whitelist you BEFORE unbanning you because the bot can't whitelist anyone who isn't showing banned).
The other 25% of subs are those that cause problems for us ideologically, typically rabidly anti-woman subs like TRP or FDS (as always, don't let the name fool you - we all know the DPRK isn't democratic or a people's republic). If the bot gets you for commenting here, you not only have to show you're a mom, it also has to be clear that you do NOT agree with the views of that community. Because, you know, they're fucking hurtful to women. Even the ones that pretend to be "pro" women subs. Believing that society was better off when women couldn't vote or that trans women aren't women isn't supportive of women & mothers and as a mothers' support sub we just can't have that shit skulking around downvoting moms for making hard choices and leaving shitty comments when no one's looking.
Okay, so 3 paragraphs is a pretty shitty TL;DR but just... idk take your phone into the bathroom and use this as an excuse to have a manshit, but please read it. Please understand it. It's so very exhausting having to explain over and over what a bot is and how to prove you're a mom and no we're not spying on you and no it's not because we don't like your snoovatar or whatever. Too many people would be eligible for unbanning but they decide to hurl verbal abuse at us instead so we nope out and they stay banned.
And since there's been a dearth of gifs in this post, here's an adorable kitten getting something we all desperately need [SFW]
