Schools are closed for the foreseeable future, can't hang out with friends or see family, parks, pool, everything fun closed... I'm feeling like I need to become a more hands-on parent real fast.
My kid is 11 so it's not like I'm spending my days keeping him alive and myself sane. But right now it's just him, my s/o and I. Basically all we have is each other and a big void where all our outside-the-house activities used to be. Sure, we have Netflix, YouTube, video games, board games, card games, books, walks, cats to play with and love, conversations and a list of temporary distractions we brainstormed for stress and boredom relief. But it's all feeling rather empty in light of loonnnngggg days mostly spent at home.
I've been trying to think of a project we can reasonably consider to be 'work'. So far I think starting a podcast just talking about random stuff we like or are interested in is my best idea. He and I are both nerdy bookish ADHD types who get really into... just a bunch of stuff. A podcast would give us the opportunity to research things, write scripts, keep our passions stoked, broaden our mental and intellectual horizons, maybe even reach a community of people who are interested in the same stuff... we are total amateurs but so far it's the best idea I've got.
For those of you who are stuck at home with kids self-isolating, do you feel me? Are you planning on engaging your kids in any long term goals or projects? I'd love to hear all about it.
