Post Body

I've been watching the kids of some family friends pretty regularly the last few months. They are 2 and 4. A handful, to be sure. But they are generally very well behaved and sweet kids.

The younger one was missing her mom today, which resulted in some very sweet toddler cuddles. Laying on my chest softly sniffling while I stroked her back. Then I was reminiscing about when my son was that little and we happily cuddled cold winter days away watching movies on the couch together. It was enough to make me emotional, and deeply miss when he was young enough for me to hold him in my arms.

...but then about an hour later, she peed herself. No big deal. While I was changing her in the bathroom I asked if she had to poop. She said no. I said, "do you promise?" She replied "I promise!" with a big adorable smile.

Yeah, not 5 minutes later, she alerted me to the fact that she shit her pants.

Oh my fucking God. I hate poop. I never made it through changing my son's diapers without gagging. And this was a bonafide shitsplosion. I spent 30 minutes scrubbing the toddler, the counters, the toilet, the tile and even the carpet (oh God, the carpet) of poop. I vomited twice into my shit-covered toilet. I got it on my hands, my shirt and my pants. I almost burst into tears.

So yeah, I take it back. I am so fucking glad that my son is old enough that he will likely never shit his pants again, and if he does, it's his problem. Don't believe the hype ladies. Having a toddler is not worth it.
