How do you treat items that do not belong to you?

Post Body

Because my daughter was having a hard morning and I let her keep my bathrobe on at exchange. I asked my ex if I could have it back at the next exchange (4 days). First of all, she claimed not to have it at exchange, but I noticed it in her car today because one of her kids had an activity and she was there for it. So I told her I would just grab my robe.

It was on the floor COVERED in dirt and crumbs, and there was a wet diaper wrapped up in it. It literally smelled like a port a potty.

I’ve gotten used to things disappearing at her house that I’ve gotten for the kids and I try to just remind myself that those are their items even when it makes me sad. For example, she lost their brand new school shoes, that they only got to wear twice. Often the kids are returned to me without coats, shoes, etc . I’ve probably lost $300 of toys at the black hole She calls her house. But again I just consider that stuff my kids’ and I’m annoyed, but don’t feel like it’s my place to ask for stuff back.

But I just feel like this is the same shitty, entitled attitude that made me leave her in the first place. Who does that with somebody else’s stuff ??

The real kicker is that she will ask for stuff back (even stupid little stuff like plastic cups), and I return it to her clean and on time every time. She just somehow manages to lose or destroy every single thing that goes over there. I would think it was on purpose except I have seen the state of her car and house, and she literally just doesn’t care unless it’s something of hers.
