LED on but no picture

I have a Sony Bravia KD55X8509C that won’t wont turn on properly. The LED will come on and you can see the backlight turn on but nothing else happens. To solve this we have to turn off at the mains wait a bit and turn back on again. We have to do this every time we turn the TV on.
Any advice?
