BF Multi Tool (and other projects) - Future Plans
Post Body

Hello everyone! In celebration of Brave Frontier's 6th Anniversary, I would like to share my plans for the upcoming year (and potentially beyond) in regards to the BF-related projects I have created and that you may be using (or seeing the results of someone using).

Brave Frontier Multi Tool (BFMT)

  • Website - [Link]
  • Description: This is my main Brave Frontier Project. It is a web-based application that offers a number of features
    • Multidex
      • View data from a slightly modified version of Deathmax's Datamine - particularly about all available units, items, extra skills, leader skills, brave bursts, missions, and in-game text (i.e. multidex types)
      • Ability to filter and sort multidex type by various parameters (e.g. name, rarity, type)
      • UI for viewing the data in a friendly, easy-to-read manner
        • Certain pages offer more interaction
          • The Units page allows you to create SP builds
          • The Items page shows you all the materials needed to make something
    • Can build various squads with the Squad Builder
      • Choose from any unit, item, and extra skill in the game
      • See all the buffs given by each unit within a squad
      • Optimize your position and orders via the spark simulator
      • Better position your squads for Arena and Colo
    • Compare the effects across any unit, item, extra skill, leader skill, and brave burst with the Compare tool
    • Create tier lists for units via the Tier List Creator
  • Plans - 3.0 release in 2020, encompassing at least some of the stuff listed below
    • Complete architecture update for better performance and memory
    • Better buff parsing
    • UI updates
    • Properly split out certain internal components into their respective stand-alone projects
      • Port spark simulator into Project Sparkle
      • Creation of bfmt-utilities module
      • Move datamine data into it's own repository instead of keeping it within this one
    • Many feature and bug updates to things currently available
    • Add more tools (that may or may not be stand-alone tools too)
      • Story viewer
      • Animation viewer (from BF Frame Animator)
      • Summon simulator (?)
    • Accessible via a Discord bot? (potential revival of bluubot)

BF Wiki Page Generator

  • Website - [Link]
  • Description: Lightweight sidegrade of BFMT made specifically for the Wiki
    • Dependent entirely on the original Deathmax datamine
    • Used as a base for experimenting with alternative architecture idea for BFMT
      • I think it's successful as it feels like it loads faster than BFMT
  • Plans
    • Make more template generators
      • currently DBB template is a work in progress
      • generate lists based on what unit/item has a given buff
    • Data finder
      • Help to proactively find new data on the server before it's announced
    • Maybe port some stuff here into BFMT (and vice-versa)
      • Expect to see a variant of the filter/sort system here in BFMT.

Project Sparkle

  • Website - [Link]
  • Description: The original web port of Hamza's Sparking Simulator
    • Help optimize positioning and ordering of units in squads for maximum sparkability
  • Plans
    • Incorporate extra attack support and performance updates from BFMT into this
    • Add in a way to find offsets for teleporters
    • UI Update
    • More performance updates

BF Frame Animator (Web Version)

  • Website - [Link]
  • Description: Generate animations from BF-like assets right supported browsers
    • BF-like includes Brave Frontier, FFBE, and Brave Frontier 2
    • There is an original Java version that is not updated as much.
    • I'm pretty sure the vast majority of animations on the BF Wiki were either made with this or the original Java version.
  • Plans
    • Find a way to incorporate this into BFMT
    • Potential performance updates

Other Projects (Exact names are WIP)

  • bfmt-utilities - NPM module used to help read and generate data from the datamine
    • Shared set of functions to be used across a lot of the projects listed above
  • bfmt-data - repository showing a more granular view of Deathmax's datamine
    • Potentially see history of changes per unit
    • Potentially store statistics about the datamine here
    • Planned to be used to support of faster load times for BFMT
  • bf-story-viewer - parse and display cutscenes from BF
  • Potential revival of bluubot
    • bluubot was originally a Discord bot focused on reading the BF datamine; I consider it a successor to SeraBot and a precursor to Hamzabot
    • Aim of this potential revival is bringing features of BFMT into Discord

Please keep in mind that none of this is final and is subject to change at any time. What is listed above are things I do want to get done for each respective project, but things may change as the amount of free time I get as well as what I learn skill-wise changes.

So where do you, the BF community, fit within all this? What I would like from y'all is to here feedback on what is currently available (e.g. what part(s) of BFMT could be improved) as well as suggestions for the future. Currently, the BFMT projects reside on /u/Linathan's Lima Laboratory Discord Server (invite here). In that server, along with other Wiki related projects, you can see updates I post at least weekly as well as give feedback. I post (and will continue to post) pictures of new features that are work in progress in order to gain feedback from the community. These tools are made for players like me and you, and in order to make sure that they fit the players' needs, I like to ask people what they want and what they think of various features.

2019 has been a busy year for BFMT. Thank you everyone who has helped these projects get to where they are today! Let's hope that 2020 will be even better.
